Achieve Enhancement

in One Office Visit

A typical gum contouring session at our office takes between 20 minutes and two hours, depending on the number of teeth being treated.

During the procedure, Dr. Heard will:

  1. Confirm your goals and determine the amount of tissue to remove
  2. Numb the treatment area using local anesthetic
  3. Remove small amounts of tissue
  4. Provide detailed instructions to follow as you heal

How long is the recovery?

Most Patients

Require No Downtime

When performed with a laser, gum contouring has a short and easy recovery period. In fact, many patients return to their normal daily lives immediately after treatment. However, for the first two weeks, we recommend:

  • Biting and chewing with your back teeth
  • Eating soft, cool foods
  • Avoiding spicy foods and anything with seeds, such as strawberries
  • Rinsing with salt water

You may experience some discomfort for the first few days. However, all post-operative symptoms should subside within two weeks.
